Re: Added 2nd HDHR - Lost Channels!

Maybe I'm not understanding the intent of your home/barn configuration, but why not just connect both Quatro units to the house antenna where both units would get all the channels? Both of the Quatro units would be sitting right beside one another, in the house, and both of them accessible to the LAN.

Re: HDhomerun Quatro streaming problem

Thanks for reaching out, Ned. If they don't take it back, I'll just ship it back to you folks. I still have a few old beige units that work great.

Re: HDhomerun Quatro streaming problem

Connecting the unit directly to a PC (straight patch cable) doesn't work. Even after setting the static IP and resulting subnet, it constantly cycles from "Enabled, Identifying, to Network cable unplugged." It came with the correct power adapter. Unfortunately, the barrel size has changed since the ...

Re: HDhomerun Quatro streaming problem

If it was me, I would disconnect everything (Everything). Just have a router, quarto and one wired playback device. No server, no switches, no dvr. See if it that works and then add stuff back till you find problem. I was able to pull out an old router (Asus RT-N66U) and connect just the Quatro and...

Re: HDhomerun Quatro streaming problem

I ended up pulling the Quatro for the moment and hooked up the decade old beige 2-tuner model. I am currently recording 2 programs simultaneously under exactly the same conditions. 12 Mbps on one tuner and 16 Mbps on the other.

That's pretty hard to explain.

Re: HDhomerun Quatro streaming problem

The fact it is just below 10Mbps strongly suggests a network link somewhere between the Quatro and the PC is stuck at 10Mbps. That is interesting for sure. Nick, I just tested every PC on my network, including the PC that I have connected via the powerline adapter. Even the PC on the powerline adap...

Re: HDhomerun Quatro streaming problem

I just hooked a laptop up to the R7000 - to clarify, I unplugged the Quatro and plugged in the laptop. The laptop connects to the R7000 at 100 Mbps. I moved a file from the 24/7 server to the laptop at 12 MB/sec. That's pretty much 100 Mbps - there's no way that it's limited to 9.5 Mbps by my hardwa...

Re: HDhomerun Quatro streaming problem

Not only did I turn the recording engine off on the 102 IP address, but after unchecking that box and applying, I rebooted all devices and uninstalled the HDHR Windows software completely from that machine (a client PC in the house on the powerline adapter portion of the LAN). The only machine that ...

Re: HDhomerun Quatro streaming problem

I could grab a laptop tomorrow and test that theory, but I suspect there is something else going on here, otherwise the older HDHR model would have the same problem as the newer model. Everything between the HDHR and the server using the HDHR is full gigabit, and the last time I tested it moving fil...

Re: HDhomerun Quatro streaming problem

I thought you had it, Nick, but apparently that wasn't it, because the Quatro can still only handle 9.5 Mbps total streaming. If I setup 2 recordings, it still splits the available bandwidth, never allowing overall bandwidth to exceed 9.5 Mbps.

Re: HDhomerun Quatro streaming problem

If bandwidth or net errors are a problem for the Quatro, what is it about the good 'ol beige 2-tuner device that would allow it to work just fine in place of the Quatro on the same network?

Re: HDhomerun Quatro streaming problem

If I select some of the SD channels rather than the HD channels, and the overall throughput is less than 9.5 Mbps, then it works.
